Georgianna ‘Georgi’ Shea began studying dance in her hometown of South Lake Tahoe, California.  At the age of five, she crashed her sister’s dance class, and she has been dancing ever since.  After graduating from the University of Southern California, Ms Shea worked in Southern California and New York City as a dance teacher, dance fitness instructor and choreographer.  Since 2003, she has worked in Northern California’s Silicon Valley as a dance educator and choreographer.  “The rewards of sharing dance with middle school and high school students has been better than anything I could have ever imagined.” says Shea.

Ms. Shea, known for her innovative curriculum design and implementation, believes that dance can teach students more than just steps, “dance can give students the opportunity to be a creative thinker, a collaborator, a risk taker and a critical problem solver.” Her unique approach to teaching involves creating a positive atmosphere where connection, technique and creativity are expressed in a fun, yet meaningful, atmosphere.

Ms. Shea hopes that one day all students will have access to quality dance programming in schools not only for the obvious health benefits, but also for the valuable life-skills that students can attain through the art form of dance.
